PRA launches three new electronic Map services

As part of the ongoing development of our Digital Mapping facilities the PRA is pleased to announce the launch of three new services on landdirect.ie.

  1. A new product called a Special Registration Map

  2. The facility to conduct an Area Search of a selected area up to 200m X 200m and instantly receive folio details of all seedpoints within the selected area

  3. The facility to order an Official Map Search (available in digitised counties only*)

Special Registration Map

As an alternative to ordering a ‘Title Plan’ and to ensure that customers receive a map that is suitable for their particular purposes, it is now possible to order a product called a ‘Special Registration Map’ (SRM) on www.landdirect.ie.  When using this facility the customer can select the area of the map they want to include and the appropriate scale at which the map is to be printed.  Using this facility, customers can now order a map of a selected area of the registry map at a smaller or larger scale than the OSi published scale, specifically to suit their needs. For example if the customer

  • wishes to see more of the surrounding OSi detail and adjoining registrations they can order the SRM at any of the smaller available scales
  • intends to use the SRM map for subdivision purposes they can order the SRM at any of the larger available scales.
  • requires a map of unregistered property

*Note that boundary detail will only appear on the SRM in digitised counties. Click here for an up to date list of counties that now have digitised boundary detail.

Search Areas:

Search Areas are similar to bookmarks with the addition of a facility to find details of all registrations within the area selected and have the results displayed on screen or posted to you as an 'Official Map Search' application. (see below for more details on the Official Map Search).
To create a search area, use the map navigation tools to locate the required area and then click on the “Area Search” tab on the bottom left of the screen. You must zoom in to an appropriate scale in order to use this feature. Next click on the 'Activate drawing tool' link (Activate Drawing Tool). This enables you to draw a blue rectangle on the on-screen map. Neither the length nor width of the area specified can exceed 200 metres. Having created the search area, you will be able to:

 Save the area by clicking the "save" button;
or

 Search the area by clicking the "Search this Area" button.

Choosing the "Search this Area" option will confirm the number of folios contained in the area. In order to see full details of these folios, click the "View full Results" button. When the search fee is acknowledged by the user, a list of the folios and properties will be displayed. Any or all of the folios on the list may be inspected for the standard inspection fee.  Saving the area will enable you to return to this area in the future.

Official Map Search

If the saved area lies entirely within a county that has digitised boundary data available, you can request an "Official Map Search" for the area.

On selecting Official Map Search, will you will be prompted to choose the appropriate scale. A red rectangle will be drawn on the on-screen map, indicating the area that will be included in the "Official Map Search" results, at the selected scale. Click the "Request Search" option to confirm your postal address and acknowledge the fee for the application. The PRA will prepare an "Official Map Search" of the area showing the underlying OSi detail together with Land Registry detail and an accompanying header page denoting the registered properties within the area.
